09:56 am - Goals Progress - Week 3
I finally got some things done: 3 goals down, and a lot of progress on some others.

3. Eat a fruit every day for a month - I bought a lot of fruit juice and I've been drinking about 20oz daily for the past 4 days.
4. Give up soda (and find replacement beverages) - Still soda-free. Anyone have recommendations for a drink that isn't soda, isn't alcoholic, and comes in a can?
11. Buy a YDP-223 - We bought the keyboard, but I'm waiting for it to arrive to cross it off the list.
13. Buy a new computer - My parents gave me a laptop. Once I get a new hard-drive this is getting crossed off.
17. Become debt-free - Paid off a credit card and a loan this week, as well as cancelling some services to make up an extra $50 a month or so.
19. Reduce clutter and make cash by selling my extra video games, books, movies, Magic: The Gathering cards, etc. - Magic: the Gathering cards are sold! Still loading other stuff into a box until I find some way to get rid of it.
20. Send photos of Anya to her grandparents at least once every 3 months - Took some photos recently and sent them.
21. Have Anya's grandparents visit at least once - This is complete! My parents came to visit for a couple days last week while Anya had her hospital visit.
22. Go on a 'date' with Kassi at least once a month - going out tonight, actually.
26. Read a bedtime story to Anya every night for a month - 15 days now. We ran through all the Disney Board Books already. Peter Rabbit was good, but long. I don't care much for Goodnight Moon.
27. Gain 10 new LJ friends - This is complete! Welcome to my most recent three friends, sub_musashi, grover173 and paladin3.
33. Watch 50 new movies at home - Watched two more movies this week, Punch-Drunk Love and Jungle 2 Jungle. I don't recommend the second one. That brings the total up to 4.
36. Play a 400 point Scrabble game - This is complete! I played a 433 point game against Kassi last Friday, complete with two bingos.
37. Review 100 products on amazon.com - Up to 13 reviews now. I've finally given out some 4- and 5-star reviews.
38. Deck out the bike with lots of commuter gear - My bike rack arrived but I lack the mounting hardware to actually attach it.
46. Write and sell a game for the Atari 2600 - Still plugging away at this. Title screen and menu are nearly complete.
49. Take at least 200 photos each year - 17 shots in the last week (58 total). The key to good digital photography is to use up your whole memory card and then delete all but the best couple pictures.
53. Clean the garage - Well... my dad did most of this for me. I just need to throw away or donate items and this will be finished.
55. Replace all lightbulbs with Compact Fluorescent bulbs - Bought another 5-pack and replaced a couple burnt bulbs.
62. Join a community orchestra or string ensemble - Audition on Thursday at 6:00 PM. I've been practicing.
70. Find a way to practice Spanish language - those LJ communities are helpful and fun to read, if only they weren't cluttered by posts like "Help I have an essay due tomorrow can someone edit the whole thing for me?" I may search for LJ friends who post often and only in Spanish.
74. Find the best burrito in town! - La Huerta makes a darn good bean burrito, and the chicken one isn't bad either.
93. Maintain a happy, stable marriage - still married
94. Be a good father - despite dropping the baby I think I'm doing well...
95. Become more honest - this is still a goal
96. Focus more time on self-awareness and introspection - been thinking more about it, and have posts to make to LJ today
101. Live to be 27 - BEWARE I LIVE

Single serving kool-aid packets and a reusable water bottle, also canned lemonade.

Actually not really the key. Before you delete anything you need to spend time looking at it and understanding what you did wrong, especially if you are using a DSLR - not so important with a point and shoot camera. Also, if you are into digital manipulation at all, these are good for practicing on. I took a couple at my cousin's wedding last summer that didn't look so good. One was washed out and the other too dark. Using Photoshop Lightroom, I converted both to BW and messed with the exposure and lighting and was able to salvage them.

Yeah, I haven't invested a lot of time in the post-processing department yet - I use Google's Picasa to manage my pictures and do basic editing. Choices are limited, but it can do basic crop/straighten and contrast/color/lighting. I guess what I meant to say is: take a bunch and then only share your best : )

If I ever take a picture I would want to frame and share, I would probably open up Gimp and do some serious editing. As it is I take so many pictures at a time that I appreciate the one-click fix approach. (One thing Picasa can't do is lighten up dark areas or darken lights - it only boosts in either direction. It's disappointing when I have taken a picture with the wrong lighting and I want to essentially reduce contrast.)

I use GIMP, Paint.Net and Lightroom, depending on what I need to do.

400 point game! That's not easy. Well done.
